THE WRITTEN WORD

When the eleventh day of September in 2001 finally expired all of us were changed. Our latent spirit of national unanimity awoke with a resounding roar and a call to arms.
The tragedy inspired me to write a poem something I had not written in years. That moment came when I was putting up the flag at my home. I raced to my computer and began writing "I Held The Flag Today." In short I was invited to recite it at the first candlelight ceremony near the site of United Flight 93, The poem became a national hit; subsequently the publishing of two books. numerous speaking, media and book-signing appearances across the nation.
I invite you to click on Please Play Taps for Me my latest video poem now on YouTube then click on Popuar Poems a few poems which are featured in both of my patriotic books "I Held The Flag Today: Words of Patriotism" and "More Words of Patriotism."

Wall That Heals
The dedication of the Veterans Way Memorial in Pink Hill Park, Blue Springs, Missouri was a moving and memorable success on April 2, 2013.
My poem, "Eternal Messengers," received a standing ovation. It was created to honor all veterans. It told of a granite pillar shouldering "Restless Recovery," a wounded bird, which was first featured at the four-day visitation of the traveling Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall That Heals in 2010.
I had the honor of speaking at that opening ceremony and reciting "A Moving Epitaph," a poem honoring our Vietnam soldiers. A sincere thank you to Blue Springs Mid Continent Library for printing copies of my poem which were passed out to the audience.

The Wall Returned to North Kansas City
The Wall That Heals, the traveling  replica of the original Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. was a success despite the oppressive record heat from June 27 to July 1, 2012. Nearly 15,000 came to see and touch the wall. It is the same Wall that came to Blue Springs in 2010.

KSHB TV 41 HERO SHOW

TRIBUTE TO MILITARY AND VETERANS
NOVEMBER 9, 2013, K.C., MO.
I was invited by KSHB TV 41 to appear at
their seven hour long tribute to the military, veterans and the fallen Hero Show on stage of the Kansas City Power & Light District.
I had the honor of appearing twice. In the early afternoon I recited "I Held The Flag Today" the most published and publicized poem in the nation in 2001 and 2002.
Then in the evening I produced a U.S. Flag Folding ceremony with the aid of area Gold Star Mothers/Families, the color guard from the Gladstone, Mo. VFW and renowned bugler John Parcell. It concluded with my video poem "Please Play Taps For Me and the playing of taps.

The video poem was played in several events around the country. To see it, go to YouTube (now more than 2,200 hits) and type in Please Play Taps For Me. Let me know your response.
